The Newick School Association (NSA) is a Registered Charity that raises funds and supports the education of the children at the school. Every parent and guardian of a child at the school is automatically a member as is every permanent teacher. The head teacher comes to NSA meetings as a valued but ex-officio member. The association is not permitted by its constitution to have political affiliations. It meets at the school about seven or eight times a year, on weekday evenings, during term time. The Annual General Meeting is held in September which is of course the start of the school year, and in recent years has been held immediately before the Governors open meeting. The NSA revised its constitution in January 2005 so as to dispense with the need for a committee. A quite radical but very practical step, which means that any or indeed all, parents/carers/teachers can attend meetings and decide how money is both raised and spent for and on behalf of the children. Day to day running of the association and responsibility to the Charity Commission for its finances, is in the hands of the four annually elected officers. They are all parents and are not allowed to hold the same post for more then two consecutive years.

There is a very useful system of 'class reps' parents who each year volunteer to take responsibility for communications with a particular school class, in which they have a child, and with parents of other children in the class. The 'class reps' also support the class at particular events, like Christmas Parties. There is no set number but each class has between two and four 'class reps'.
