Healthy Schools
As a health promoting school, Newick CE Primary School is committed to encouraging and developing attitudes towards food and a healthy diet. As a school we know that food is fundamental to the quality of a child’s life, not just in providing essential nutrition but in communicating and sharing positive values, attitudes and experiences and each other.
We are proud to announce that in June 2025 we renewed our Healthy schools Excellence status. Only 21 other primary schools in East Sussex have achieved and only 121 across the whole country. For the full report please click below:

Food Policy - November 2025Cookery Club and DT
Miss Kinderman runs a cookery club where the children create a main dish and a dessert. The children lay the table and we all eat together. It is a really lovely opportunity to share healthy food together as a group.
In DT every year group gets a chance to use the kitchen to bake or cook. This could be a healthy sandwich, a curry, a seasonal pie, soup, chocolate or bread!

Healthy Eating
At Newick School we have a healthy eating policy. We encourage our children to eat healthily and think about food as their fuel.
