Computing
Curriculum Aims
Wisdom - We will equip our children with knowledge, skills and vocabulary that helps support the fundamental principles and concepts of computer science including logic, abstraction, algorithms and data representation.
Independence - Our children will use computational thinking and creativity to understand and change the world.
Creativity - Our children will know how they can create their own programs, systems and range of content. We also want children to express themselves and develop their own ideas.
Kindness - Our children will be responsible, competent, confident and creative users of information and communication technology that is at a suitable level for future workplaces and as active participants in a digital world.
Computing Curriculum
At Newick Primary School, we have adopted the scheme of work designed by the National Centre for Computing Education (NCCE.) This well-designed and professionally resourced scheme of work is being followed throughout the school from KS1 to KS2, enabling teaching staff to make use of the knowledge and resources provided by experts in the field. We are confident that this will build the skills that children need in the modern world of digital technology. In addition to this scheme of work, we will be supporting the development of coding across the school by using coding software such as Scratch. In Upper KS2, the children also have the opportunity to experience coding with our Lego Mindstorms Robots.
