School Uniform

Children at Newick School wear school uniform. Uniform ensures that children are wearing practical, appropriate clothes. It helps to promote a sense of belonging and saves arguments over what to wear. It is very important that items of clothing are named and it is expected that long hair is tied back.
Good quality pullovers, cardigans and fleeces, embroidered with the school motif, can be purchased from Monkhouse Schoolwear (formerly Sussex Uniforms) on-line www.monkhouse.com or from their shop in Haywards Heath. Limited second hand stock is available from the School Office.

Uniform

We believe that a uniform helps to promote a sense of belonging to the school community. It also saves you from wrangles over what to wear. It is very important that items of clothing have your child’s name on them and it is expected that long hair be tied back.

We suggest the following:-

Winter

(Autumn – Term 1* & Term 2)

(Spring – Term 3 & Term 4)

•             Maroon jumper or cardigan (with school logo)

•             Plain white shirt or polo shirt

•             Grey trousers, shorts or skirt.

•             Grey or white socks or grey tights.

•             Sensible black shoes (no trainers, sandals or open toed shoes)

•             School tie (optional)

Summer

(Summer – Term 5 & Term 6)

(Autumn – Term 1*)

•             Maroon jumper or cardigan (with school logo)

•             Plain white shirt or white polo shirt

•             Grey trousers, shorts or skirt.

•             Pink gingham dress

•             Grey or white knee length or short socks.

•             Sensible black shoes (no trainers, sandals or open toed shoes)

* During Autumn Term 1 either Summer or Winter uniform can be worn

PE Kits

For P.E. and Games, children need to be able to change for safety and hygiene into:-

•             Sport trainers (that allow freedom of ankle  movement  i.e. not the ‘boot’ type)

•             Maroon T-shirt and black shorts

•             Black track suit/jogging trousers are acceptable in the winter with socks but not tights.

All children should come to school wearing their PE kits on their allocated PE days.

Multi-coloured T-shirts, including football strips are not acceptable.

For indoor P.E., dance and gymnastics the children will be in bare feet.

Please do not let your child bring valuable possessions or jewellery to school.  If earrings are worn, they must be small studs or sleepers.  These must be removed for P.E., or covered with micro pore tape, which must be supplied by parents/carers.

Labelling Clothing and Belongings

We highly recommend getting some labels for your child's items. The My Nametags labels are extremely hardwearing and save a great deal of effort and potential lost property. They can be used on school uniforms, PE kits, club clothes, football kits, in fact almost anything. For every order of personalised labels, My Nametags will contribute 24% to Newick School. Order online at www.MyNametags.com and use our unique School ID number - 32353. Alternatively you can click on the link below. You can also get 20% off by using the code: 'LABELALL20'. You will be raising much needed money for the school and reducing the amount of lost property at the same time!
